UMC Offers Classes in HypnoBirthing® - The Mongan Method
2010
Starting in 2010, University Medical Center will offer monthly natural childbirth courses for expectant parents featuring HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan Method.
HypnoBirthing® (www.hypnobirthing.com) promotes relaxed, natural childbirth enhanced by self-hypnosis techniques. The course covers nutrition, posture, breathing, relaxation, visualization, creating a birth plan, pre-birth and postpartum bonding – and what to expect through all phases of labor. HypnoBirthing® teaches mothers how to use deep relaxation and natural birthing instincts for a calm, serene and comfortable birth. This method teaches that in the absence of fear and tension or special medical circumstances severe pain does not have to play a role in labor.
Instructor Laura Brodrick is a nationally certified HyponoBirthing® practitioner, massage therapist and certified birth doula.
Each course features five, 2.5-hour classes. The course fee is $100. Some insurance companies cover the cost of childbirth classes. Expectant mothers are encouraged to start as early as possible in their pregnancy.
UMC will offer the following HypnoBirthing® courses in 2010: Feb. 22 - March 22, April 19 - May 17, June 7 - July 5, July 26 – Aug. 23, Sept. 13 – Oct. 11, Nov. 15 – Dec. 13
